What gets lost without a written record
The owner talks continuously
Duration of symptoms, change of diet, an earlier episode: the history arrives out of order and is lost unless captured at once.
Your hands are busy
You do not type while holding an animal. Entry waits, and waiting means forgetting.
The instruction given aloud
The dosage, the signs that should prompt a return, the review interval: said once, rarely written in full.
Follow-up between consultations
Without a faithful note of the previous one, comparing progress rests on memory.
How it goes during the consultation
You start the recording at the outset, you tell the owner, you put the phone down. Your hands stay free. At the end you get the transcript and a structured note: reason for the visit, findings, plan, follow-up.
The note reads in two minutes and copies into your practice software, or exports to PDF, Word or Markdown.
What to tell the owner
Recording a private conversation requires the agreement of those present. One sentence at the outset is enough, and the app offers an audible start signal, on by default.
The recording carries the owner’s voice: that is personal data concerning them, not merely an element of the animal’s record. A mention in your intake terms beats an improvised explanation at the counter.
One case where the transcript earns its keep
When a treatment does not produce what was expected, going back to what the owner described at the first consultation, in their own words, often says more than the note drawn from it.
Taking the note into practice software
Markdown and the plain transcript paste straight into the animal’s record. PDF serves the report handed to the owner or sent to a colleague on referral.

Taken from the 274-template catalogue that ships with the app. Each one imposes its structure on the note.
